orientation 2005: august 28-30
what is orientation?
This is a common question for new students who are entering a North American style university for the
first time. The verb "to orient" doesn't actually have anything to do with eastern Asia; it means,
"to help find your way."
At LCC we have a three-day program before classes begin called First Year Orientation to do just that.
Entering university is a big step in the lives of young people and we want to make that step as easy
as possible. We will have informative seminars, introductions to our campus and teachers, fun, food,
games and events as well as chances for you to get to know people before you step into your first
class.
Our hope is that you will already have made several friends, feel comfortable on our campus and be
fully ready to start your first days as a university student with confidence by the end Orientation.
We hope to see all of our first year students attend our Orientation days so we can successfully kick
off the new year together!
