Closing Assembly and Barbeque Celebrates End of Semester
1 May 2008
Students, faculty and administration gathered for a closing assembly and barbeque on the last day of classes, Friday, April 25th. The two events have become a traditional way of ending the semester at LCC International University, and provide an opportunity for reflecting over the semester, fellowship and community.
The assembly began with Academic Vice President Marlene Wall giving her annual “Year by Numbers” presentation, a humorous way of reflecting over specific aspects of the semester. Following this presentation were thanks and awards for several student leaders and faculty who have made significant contributions over the course of the year or their time at LCC. President Jim Mininger and his wife Virginia were also thanked by the student body for their 13 years of service at LCC.
At the conclusion of the assembly, the audience was invited outside for a community barbeque. Hot dogs were provided for everyone, and the lawn between Michealsen Centras and the DeFehr Center was filled with people talking, laughing, and children playing.
After everyone had their fill of hot dogs and the warm spring weather, many people attended the friendly staff and student basketball game. Both teams were a mix of LCC faculty and the Moose basketball team.
